Brief Viau

August 6th, 2026|

A Few “Brief” Notes from the Principal

Hello Crusader Families!

Welcome to August!  This summer is flying by and the first day of school will be here before we know it!  We can’t wait for you to see how the Knights of Columbus have renovated and transformed our old locker rooms and mezzanine area in the Gym into a beautiful work of art!  The Gym will be open to the public during our Open House on Wednesday, August 26th from 4-5:30pm.  In addition to renovating the locker rooms and mezzanine area, the Building and Grounds Committee has been working on sprucing up the front of the Grade School.  Thank you to the many parents, students, and staff members who volunteered their hard work, sweat, and tools to phase one of our landscape project yesterday!  We had a great turnout and were able to accomplish a lot in just a few hours.  A big thank you to Ms. Karen Moore for leading this project and another big thank you to Mrs. Jane Arts for providing lunch for all of the volunteers.  We are blessed to have such wonderful supporters at Holy Name.

We’ve updated our August Office Hours and have added another day each week.  The office will now be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8am to 2:30pm during the weeks of August 10th and 17th.  The week of August 24th, the office will be open Monday through Thursday from 8am to 3pm.  This will give you more opportunities to stop by to shop the FREE Uniform Closet or get help with registration if you need it.

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer!

God bless,
Mrs. Brief 😀

A “Viau” from the Headmaster

Hello Crusader Family!

It’s been a little while since I’ve added to this newsletter but rest assured, I’ve been working behind the scenes. Things at the high school are coming along nicely. Our students will be happy to know that I finally painted my office and gave it a facelift! It’s still a work in progress, but many commented last year that it was dreary and they were right!

We had our August student life committee meeting on Monday. Our new Math Teacher, Mr. Niswonger, was there as well as our newest parent representative, Mrs. Ashley Sargeant! Welcome to you both. Remember that these meetings are open to any parent or student in the high school. We always meet on the first Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. but, due to the Labor Day holiday, the next meeting will be held on Monday, September 14 at 5:30 at the high school. Speaking of the student life committee, we have decided to add in some more delicious school and community wide dinners this year in addition to our fish fry Fridays during Lent. Our first one will take place on Thursday, September 24, 2026 from 5:00-7:00. This will be a tailgate party to kick off the school year for all of our PreK-12 students and families. Cost is still being determined but watch for informational flyers soon.

Every year, the high school students go on retreat during the first week of school. Please make sure you have your calendars marked for September 2nd and 3rd for this year’s retreat. We will be heading to Companions of Christ the Lamb in Paradise, Michigan. Fr. Ryan Ford will be leading the retreat. A packing list will be coming later in the month and will be emailed out.

Now that August is here, I’ll be back in my office more regularly. Please stop in, call or email if you have any questions about anything.  Looking forward to seeing you all at our Open House Cookout on August 26th at 5:30. You can bring your things for your locker that day as well!

I hope you all continue to enjoy your summer!

God bless,
Mrs. Viau

Principal for the Day

April 28th, 2026|

Mr. Walksnice did a great job as Principal for the Day! He started out with a donut with Mrs. Brief as they planned their day. Mr. Walksnice led Convo and visited all the classrooms at the Grade School & High School! He even gave orders for some classes to run laps! His class enjoyed a pizza party lunch & extra recess, all thanks to him. He even declared a NUT Day & No Homework for ALL Crusaders! Thanks for a special day, Mr. Walksnice!

Where Does Spring Fling Money Go?

April 23rd, 2026|

— Jane Arts / Alumni & Advancement

Where Does Spring Fling Money Go? Students were asking me this last week as they helped move chairs, set tables, and haul bins up and down the stairs. The simple answer is: Spring Fling helps keep tuition more affordable for your family.

But what does that really mean? Where does it fit into the budget?

Spring Fling proceeds go into the General Fund. The General Fund isn’t flashy or tied to a single project like a locker room campaign or a tuition assistance drive. Instead, it quietly supports the everyday needs that keep the school running—things like utilities, supplies, staffing, and all the behind-the-scenes essentials that make everything else possible.

So, while it may not feel glamorous to raise money for the electric bill or an extra ream of copy paper, it is the steady, dependable fund that keeps the school running strong every single day.

And that’s exactly why your support matters. Because of Spring Fling, the doors stay open, the lights stay on, and our students have a place to learn, grow, and thrive. It may not be flashy, but it is essential, and it – and you – made a real difference.

Thank you for a successful Spring Fling 2026! 💚💙💚
