Brief Viau

February 26th, 2026|

A Few “Brief” Notes from the Principal

Hello Crusader Families!

Finally!  We have had a full week of school and what a great week it has been!  It started off when Father Rob sunk a half court shot to give the students and staff at the Grade School a N.U.T. Day!  If you haven’t seen the video yet, check out our Facebook page!  Our Middle School girls had another great tournament last weekend and our Third Grade Girls Basketball team took First Place in their Manistique tournament!  This Saturday the volleyball team has another tournament at Holy Name and the girls basketball has a tournament at North Central.  If you haven’t had a chance to see them in action yet, this weekend is your chance.

I’m also excited to share that our Open House will be on Tuesday, March 10th along with a super cool Living Library, and Book Fair.  From 6-7:30pm you will be able to check out classrooms, take a tour of the Grade School, visit the Book Fair, and enjoy the Living Library as books will actually talk to you!  There will also be an opportunity for Title I students to participate in a make-and-take activity and for parents to learn more about Title I.  Enrollment opportunities will be available that night, but you don’t have to wait – you can register online today by using this link https://www.holynamecrusaders.com/admission/ .  Registration fees will increase to $150 March 1st and will continue to increase each month, so don’t wait, register now and save money!

Unfortunately we did have some sad news this week.  The mother of one of our elementary students passed away.  Please keep our student and his family in your prayers as they maneuver through this difficult time.  Mr. Czach also announced that he will be moving onto a different path next school year.  We were very blessed to have him as part of our Holy Name Family, but we wish him the best as he continues to explore God’s plan.  While we can never truly replace Mr. Czach, we do have someone lined up to fill his Middle School Math classes and we’re working on filling his High School Math classes.  More information will be shared with families in next week’s Brief Viau.

Have a fantastic weekend and I hope to see you at the Fish Fry tonight from 5:30-7:30pm!

God bless,

Mrs. Brief 😀

A “Viau” from the Headmaster

Hello Crusader Family!

Could it be??  A full week of school?! Finally! Even though it seems like we’ve had quite a few kids out this week due to illness, it sure has been nice to have a full week of school for the first time in a long time.

The high school students launched the “Bucks for Babies” event this week. They have provided cans for each of the classrooms in both schools and will be collecting money all throughout Lent to donate to Pregnancy Services of Delta County. This was an initiative they thought of to support part of our school mission-”Cultura Vitae”-a Culture of Life and it’s also a Lenten sacrifice that the whole school family can participate in. At the end of Lent, all of the individual cans will be tallied and the class that raises the most money will be rewarded with a pizza party provided by the high school’s Student Life Committee. Please encourage your kids to make a sacrifice with their change; no amount is too big or too small! Parents can donate, too! :)

If you missed last week’s Lent Fish Fry at Holy Name, no worries! Our next one is today from 5:30-7:30 in the multipurpose room at the elementary school. Last week’s turnout was fantastic and we appreciate the support! Again, funds raised go towards the high school students that will be taking part in the Rome Pilgrimage during their junior/senior year.

Next Monday, March 2 at 5:30 will be our next Student Life Committee meeting. High School students and parents are welcome to attend!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

God Bless,

Mrs. Viau

Christmas Parade Float

November 13th, 2024|

Dear Families of Holy Name,

We have a parade coming in a few weeks on December 6. It turns out that Holy Name won first place last year. I saw pictures and was impressed with the beautifully decorated float demonstrating the meaning of Christmas. What we need is someone to lead this year’s float building. We will also need a team of people to help construct and put it all together. This is a golden opportunity to share the message that Christ came to save us. It is also a highly visible event for the Escanaba community. They can see the great things Holy Name does day in and day out.

Please fill out the form on the following link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdUyusQj-0EWQwFxMz8SQ2PWp_Q3Ei4Hfxzuf03SRb7B-cv3g/viewform?usp=pp_url

Thank you for considering. Community is built on projects like this.

Peace and joy,

Veteran’s Day Program

November 7th, 2024|

Holy Name School plans Veterans Day Celebration Monday
Holy Name Catholic School is planning a Veterans Day celebration concert on Monday, Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m. in the elementary school’s multi-purpose room. All area Veterans and their family members are invited to attend; Veterans will be honored. Holy Name middle school and high school students will sing patriotic songs, with accompaniment by Senator Ed McBroom and HNCS Principal Nathan Vande Hey. Songs performed will include “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “God Bless America,” along with the Armed Forces Medley (to salute each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces), and “God Bless the USA”.
Holy Name science teacher and U.S. Navy Veteran Mrs. JoEllen Hadel will show a presentation of photos that she compiled of Veteran family members of Holy Name students and staff, in order to thank them for their service. In addition, students in third, fourth and fifth grades will recite poetry. Students will also present handmade cards thanking our Veterans for their service. The entire program will last approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Holy Name is located at 409 So. 22nd Street, Escanaba. For more information, please call the school at (906) 786-7550.
Description of attached photos:
In preparation for the upcoming Holy Name Catholic School Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, Nov. 11, Holy Name 7th and 8th graders went to Holy Name High School (located at 2203 7th Ave. South) to rehearse their music.
