A Brief Viau

September 8th, 2025|

A Few “Brief” Notes from the Principal:

Hello Crusader Families!

We had a busy four day week filled with students and staff getting into new routines, schedules, and more. We of course had the unfortunate event with the Lockdown yesterday, but thanks to God, everyone remained safe. I am beyond impressed with how the students and staff reacted to the Lockdown! Everyone was so wonderful, flexible, understanding, compassionate, and so many more positive adjectives that I could use to describe how students and staff came together as a Family. We are also grateful for Law Enforcement that showed up to protect us and even helped us transport High School students back to Chesterton Academy when the Lockdown was cleared. It’s unfortunate that we have to have Lockdown drills, however yesterday was a prime example of why drills are important. Students and staff have practiced Lockdown drills in the past and used that prior knowledge to remain calm and take proper safety precautions. As a staff, we are debriefing on what worked well as well as what areas we need to improve on. While yesterday’s event wasn’t a drill, we do have three Lockdown drills scheduled for this year so that we all stay up to date on what to do in the event we have a real emergency. We also have multiple fire and tornado drills scheduled as well. Your child’s safety is our top priority.

On a positive note, it was great to see so many students and staff wearing Holy Name/Chesterton Academy tops on our first Crusader Friday! “The Shirt” has been ordered for this year, and should be in soon!

We are excited to announce that we have a Receptionist at Holy Name Grade School! Please help us welcome Mrs. Maddi Lynch! Maddi, her husband, Chris, and their four children are members at St. Anne and her son, Christopher, is in Kindergarten at Holy Name. Please watch our Facebook page as we will be highlighting a new staff member each week!

Finally, please mark your calendars as White Army will be starting right after school in the Chapel on Monday, September 8th, and will meet every Monday. Also, please make note on your Lunch Calendars that on September 17th we will be having calzones for lunch, not cheese pizza.

In closing, please pray for our law enforcement, and all First Responders as they put their lives on the line everyday to protect us. I hope you all have a beautiful, blessed weekend!

God bless you,
Mrs. Brief 😀

A “Viau”from the Headmaster:

Hello everyone! The “Viau” from my desk this week is another great week at Chesterton Academy! The students are becoming more used to their schedules and getting to know their teachers and new students. They’ve already been diving right into their work!

Next Thursday, after the all school Mass, we will hold the House Sorting Ceremony for those that haven’t been placed in one of the Four Houses. In addition, our House Prefects will be taking their oath. We are looking forward to sharing this short ceremony with our elementary students!

Coming up; Bay College is holding a College Fair at both campuses, September 8th and 9th.

Pre-registration is required so please see the information below if you’d like to attend! Over 30+ colleges and universities across Michigan will be on campus.

Escanaba Campus:

  • Monday, September 8 from 5:30pm – 7pm ET (typically this event has been held on a Sunday night) Besse Center Entrance, in the Besse Galleries
