Preschool Information

Age Requirements

Children must be 3 years old by Sept. 1 to enroll.

Staffing Ratio

There is preschool enrollment limit of no more than 20 children per session.  The staff/child ratio is 1-10.


The preschool year begins in September and continues through June.  Children are expected to enroll for the entire school year.  The preschool program follows the St. Stephen’s Catholic School calendar for days off.


An up-to-date immunization and medical report will be required by state licensing.  Forms will be provided prior to the beginning of the preschool year.


Transportation to and from preschool is provided by the parents.

Kindergarten Information

Holy Name Kindergarten program is all day, everyday.

Carissa Crawford

Ms. Crawford began working at Holy Name Catholic School in September of 2017. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Norbert College in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood. She is an alumnus and was inspired to work at Holy Name because she was excited to work at the same school she went to! Previously, Ms. Crawford worked at Kids Club day care and Sayklly’s during her summers off of school. Her grandpa and grandma Jim and Mary Kay Crawford are alumnus’ of Holy Name as well as her two siblings Courtney and Cassie. She has a teddy bear puppy Malibu and likes to spend time with her family and friends and watch the Green Bay Packers.

Prior to working at Holy Name in 2016, Sheila was a medical transcriptionist and a stay at home mom. Sheila graduated from Rapid River High School and attended Bay de Noc Community College. Mrs. Stalboerger says she loves working at Holy Name because it feels like a family! She is married to Greg and together they are blessed with five children, Brett (Holy Name alumnus class of 2013), Gabriella (Holy Name alumnus class of 2015), Katelyn who is currently in eighth grade and twins Ava and Alex who are in fifth grade and a cat Rossi.

Mrs. Wiltzius began working at Holy Name Catholic School in September of 2015. She has a Bachelor degree in Elementary Special Education from Northern Michigan University. She loves being able to share her faith with the students at Holy Name. Before working at Holy Name she worked at Super One Foods as a cashier / front end manager for many years before having the opportunity to start her teaching career at Holy Name. Her grandma Mary Ann Chouinard graduated from Holy Name High School in 1955. She is married to Joe and has three children, Claire, Henry and Connor. She also has a Brittany Spaniel dog named Zoey. In her free time, she enjoys camping.

Prior to joining Holy Name in 2015, Mrs. LaMarche worked as a teacher at the Country Schoolhouse, Super One and the Donut Connection. She has an Associates degree in Hospitality Management as well as in Business from Bay de Noc Community College. She was inspired to work at Holy Name because she can be at a place that is centered around her Catholic faith. She says it helps her continually learn something new about Catholicism and she loves working with the kids! She has a husband Louis and in her free time enjoys painting, running and playing with her nieces and nephews.

Mrs. LaMarch began working at Holy Name Catholic School in the Fall of 2001. She has her Bachelor degree from Northern Michigan University. She says Holy Name is unique because “Jesus” is the center of the school and enjoys the students and faculty. Mrs. LaMarch is an alumnus of Holy Name as well as her three daughters Sara, Cindy and Kari. She has four grandchildren (Dustin, Zander, Burton and Kelbi, two of which attend Holy Name. She has three grand dogs and enjoys spending time with family, going kayaking, gardening and traveling. Mrs. LaMarch also enjoys playing jokes on her fellow colleagues.

Mrs. McNamee began working at Holy Name Catholic School in the fall of 2009. She has her Bachelor degree from Northern Michigan University in Elementary Education with minors in Language and Science. Prior to working at Holy Name she was a teacher assistant at EAPS for ten years and continues to work part time at the Upper Peninsula State Bank. Her mother is an alumnus of Holy Name. She is married to Dan and has three children Mary Jo, Tom and Annie. They also have a large Brittany dog named Breccan. Mrs. McNamee enjoys spending time with family and friends and loves to read and learn new things.

Mrs. LaBay began working at Holy Name Catholic School in the fall of 2018. She has a Master degree in Education from Michigan State. Mrs. LaBay feels like she has been at Holy Name forever because everyone has been helpful, welcoming and lots of fun! Before joining Holy Name, she taught preschool for five years and was a childcare Director for nine years. Her aunt Mary Sherman is an alumnus of Holy Name. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for eighteen years and has two children Kassidy (13) and Keedan (7). Mrs. LaBay has two black labs Jack and Oakley and a cat Sagwa. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching her kids sports and riding side by sides. Every day is a new adventure!
