Dear Families of Holy Name,

The Veterans’ Day program was a tremendous success. The poems, songs, cards, and love for our veterans was evident. It was a beautiful and an emotional experience for those that attended. I heard positive comments from the people that attended, facebook, television, and friends of Holy Name that heard about it from their friends. Next year we will have to get some cookies and coffee. Thank you to Dr. LaCosse, Mr. McBroom, and Mrs. Hadel for your leadership.

The Channel 6 Food Drive is happening over the next two weeks. You are welcome to bring in non-perishable food items for St. Vincent de Paul society. We appreciate your generosity as there are families in need in our community.

We are in need of a full time custodian. I know you are probably thinking that priests help clean souls “in persona Christi”, but they are too busy. If you know someone else who has a passion for Jesus and cleaning, Holy Name may be the perfect fit for them.

Please send resumes to employment@holynamecrusaders.com.

The White Army has been praying the Rosary on Mondays after school. They would like to extend an invitation to pray with them in the chapel. It concludes by 4:15pm. Dads are more than welcome.

Thank you for the people responding to the parade float building. We are getting helpers and prayer warriors, now we need a visionary leader….

The first week of shadow days at the Holy Name high school is finishing today. We will have the rest next week. The shadow students are having positive experiences. I heard one student say, “Can I shadow for the rest of the year?” It is a good sign that the child feels comfortable and is ready to engage in the learning to come. We also heard a student say, “People were having fun.” It is good to see the joy being reflected back. The Chesterton model is not supposed to be stuffy, but a place of joy. Almost half of the students at the Holy Name high school are attending my former school’s dance this weekend. It is great to build relationships in our quest for discipleship. The swing dances are pretty universal and it will be great to have our students dance the night away in our extended Chesterton community.

Be safe this weekend and happy hunting.

Peace and joy,

Nathan Vande Hey
Principal

P.S. I like Venison sticks.
