Dear Families of Holy Name Catholic School,

I want to thank you for your support of your children in receiving the sacrament of reconciliation. Yesterday’s confessions were a testament to the great families we have here at Holy Name. Students were prepared, sincere, and I was so proud of them. Fr. Fran heard confessions for over an hour. There were a few grades we were not able to get to, but Fr. Jamie will be back this Monday to hear confessions starting with grade 6, 4 and Lightfoot grade 3.

A few other reminders, the Ken Gartland scholarship for incoming Freshman that live in Delta county is available for the first 10 students. We have only a few left. Please do not delay.

If you know people interested in Holy Name, I am available to give tours. Please encourage your friends, neighbors, and fellow countrymen to come and see the great things here at Holy Name.

Congratulations to the Science Olympiad team who qualified for state. Our volleyball team placed first in last week’s tournament. We also had numerous individuals that placed well in their sports: wrestling, hockey and gymnastics. The Holy Name/Gladstone basketball team battled Escanaba and came away with a loss on Friday and a win on Monday. They fell to Kingsford this week. Congratulations to Michael Rexford who represented Holy Name on a great high school basketball season.

The talent show was a huge success. Thank you to Vicky LaMarche for coordinating the event. Thank you to the 8th grade class for all their hard work. The music, skits, humor, and joy was evident. This old principal cried during Isla’s dance routine. Beauty points us to God. I saw our kids being their authentic selves and it was truly beautiful. I cannot wait to see them grow more into the identity as children of our Heavenly Father.

Peace and joy,

Nathan Vande Hey
Principal
