Dear Family,

I hope that everyone had a nice three day weekend. As you can see, I have a long list of COVID updates to report. It was pretty late by the time I was able to finish everything up and I didn’t want everyone’s phones pinging late at night. So, I chose to send it this morning instead.

Yesterday, we had one of our boys on the boys’ basketball team test positive during the athlete antigen testing. Unfortunately, the 8th grade boys’ basketball team will also need to be quarantined since they played a game together on Saturday. All of the families have been contacted.

Ms. Cathy VanDrese was a close contact of a person that tested positive with COVID outside of school. She is scheduled to return on May 11th.

We had a student in 4th grade whose parent tested positive for COVID and will be quarantined. The student is not experiencing any symptoms and no other classmates need to be quarantined.

One of our preschool aides in Mrs. Wiltzius’ class also tested positive for COVID, however she had not been in the classroom for a couple days and there are no close contacts.

A student in Mrs. Lightfoot’s 3rd grade class and sibling in Mrs. Orzel’s first grade class had a younger member in their household that tested positive for COVID. Again, the other students are not showing any symptoms and no further quarantines are necessary.

I closing, this week is National Teacher/Aide Appreciation Week. Please take a moment to let our teachers and aides know how much you appreciate them. We are blessed to have such a dedicated group of teachers and aides supporting, caring, and praying for our children!
