A Brief Viau

January 15th, 2026|

A Few “Brief” Notes from the Principal

Hello Crusader Families!

It’s hard to believe, but today marks the end of the First Semester!  Many of our older students were busy focusing, studying, and taking their midterm exams this week.  Report cards will be coming home on Wednesday, January 21st, so please watch for those and reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns.  We do not have school on Monday, January 19th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and then our Second Semester will start with a fresh slate on Tuesday, January 20th.

In other exciting news, our 5th grade students will be shadowing with our 6th grade students on Tuesday, January 20th to see what it’s like to be a Middle School student at Holy Name!  Our 8th Grade students will be heading to Holy Name High School – A Chesterton Academy on the 20th as well to see what it’s like to be a High School student at HNHS!  Students and staff are very excited for this opportunity and experience.  Mrs. Viau and I will be holding a HNHS – Chesterton Academy Parent Information Night on Thursday, January 24th from 6:00-7:00pm at the High School for those incoming Freshman parents or parents of new High School students.  We will be giving a tour of the High School and answering any questions parents may have regarding the High School.

I pray that you enjoy your long weekend and stay warm!

God bless,

Mrs. Brief 😀

A “Viau” from the Headmaster

Hello Crusader Family!

We wrapped up last week with some great performances of “Letters from the Titanic” by our Junior and Senior class. I am so proud of the dedication and hard work these kids put in. They executed a fantastic show!!

This week has been filled with a lot of study time for exams. We started mid-terms on Wednesday and continued them on Thursday and this morning. It’s been fun to watch the students help each other prepare and I am confident that they all did their best!

We are all very excited here for next Tuesday’s Shadow Day. As Mrs. Brief said, our 8th grade students will be spending the day here at the high school. We are looking forward to showing them what it’s like to be a high school student here at the fantastic Holy Name High School-Chesterton Academy!

Some of our students will be joining Fr. Ryan Ford on the trip to the March for Life in Washington D.C. next week. Please keep them all in your prayers as they travel.

Tuesday begins the second half of the year. It’s crazy to think of how fast the first half went! I’m looking forward to spending the rest of the school year with your students!

Have a fantastic weekend!

God Bless,

Mrs. Viau

Band Camp at Camp Batawagama with FULL-RIDE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE!!!

April 12th, 2024|

Band Camp is returning to Batawagama this summer. There is a local person willing to sponsor 100 students for FULL scholarships if needed. Feel free to share this opportunity for any students entering into grades 7-12 for next school year. For more information about camp, please see the info on Camp Batawagama’s website:
https://www.campbatawagama.com/band-camp-information.html
If interested, to register for camp, download the forms for band camp from their website, fill them out and mail them in. You can register online, but you’d need to pay the “in-county” fee of $200 and indicate LA Scholarship on the forms. All candidates are encouraged to pay something, if able, towards the tuition – $100 or even $50 if possible. If you’re unable to pay anything, that’s okay too. When you send the registration in, you’ll need to indicate “LA scholarship” on the form. Also, please email the camp to tell them your registration is on the way and student ages and instruments so they can get that info ASAP. Please contact Camp Batawagama directly by phone with further questions.
