Message from the Principal

Message from the Principal

November 22nd, 2024|

Dear Families of Holy Name,

A word of thanks for all the prayer warriors in this community. The students have been praying daily for Trish DeGrand as she gets her treatments. If you have prayer requests, please share them so we can pray for them as well.

We are wrapping up our shadow day visits at the Holy Name High School. The Chesterton students have been welcoming our 7th and 8th graders. I have heard very positive feedback. The Holy Name High School is a joyful experience. I personally witnessed great conversations in literature and philosophy classes this week. I also saw ping pong and foosball games during recreation time. There was a lot of fun and energy in the room.

If you need 12 minutes of inspiration please click on the following link: Graduate Testimonials – Holy Name High School – A Chesterton Academy

Our goal at Holy Name is to help form disciples. We want to help shape your children into a fully alive human beings. Academics is a big part of that. The MSTEP test results are out and the results are very positive. I am proud to say we are significantly above the state averages. Michigan’s overall scores for English Language Arts are at 41% advanced and proficient. For Math, it is 36% advanced and proficient. Holy Name’s scores are at 64% advanced and proficient for English Language Arts and 59% advanced and proficient for Math. There are charts on the following pages if you would like to see a breakdown of our scores. We are pleased with the results and we also recognize that we have room for improvement. The staff development will move the dial to help more of our students. I am so appreciative of the staff and their hard work. I am also so appreciative of your support as parents. A tripod does not stand on two legs. Parents, staff, and students all share a leg in the tripod for our children’s success.

Peace and joy,
Nathan Vande Hey

Christmas Parade Float

November 13th, 2024|

Dear Families of Holy Name,

We have a parade coming in a few weeks on December 6. It turns out that Holy Name won first place last year. I saw pictures and was impressed with the beautifully decorated float demonstrating the meaning of Christmas. What we need is someone to lead this year’s float building. We will also need a team of people to help construct and put it all together. This is a golden opportunity to share the message that Christ came to save us. It is also a highly visible event for the Escanaba community. They can see the great things Holy Name does day in and day out.

Please fill out the form on the following link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdUyusQj-0EWQwFxMz8SQ2PWp_Q3Ei4Hfxzuf03SRb7B-cv3g/viewform?usp=pp_url

Thank you for considering. Community is built on projects like this.

Peace and joy,
