Dear Families of Holy Name Catholic School,

Thank you to everyone that signed up for the Grandparents and special person day coming on April 10, 2025. It really helps us to plan accordingly. Please use the link below to RSVP for the event and let us know who is attending. This step helps us prepare and provide a positive experience for all our guests.

I have some really good news regarding our four year old preschool program. We are entering into a partnership with GSRP. It will provide some tuition relief for those that qualify. It will be a part time program M, T, W, and F. It is a state program and so we carefully examined the implications. Specifically, we will not have the ability to teach about Jesus for half of our school day. We concluded that we are still in control of the staffing and that Holy Mass, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and the faith components we integrate during the other times would not significantly impact our Catholic identity. We are working hard behind the scenes and will share more details after the break.

Ben Brownwell (grade 6) would like to bring back popcorn Fridays. He wrote a proposal and would like to get some parent volunteers to help with this project. He would like to have two popcorn Fridays before the end of the year. Please fill out the form if you are interested in helping. It sounds like it would require making popcorn for 2-3 hours in the morning and then distributing them in the afternoon. Ben suggested we charge $1 per bag and use the proceeds to support our new band program.

On a totally different note, there is a donor of Holy Name that has an upright piano she is willing to give to a family if the family can pick it up in Norway, MI. Her name is Suzanne Scott and her phone number is 906-239-4146.

Have a wonderful spring break.

Peace and joy,

Nathan Vande Hey – Principal
